Janis helped us late at night on a bank holiday weekend when we got locked out of our house. He came as quick as he could and unlocked it for us very quickly. Great service

Lovely company to deal with over the phone. Serge came out very promptly on a Saturday morning. I didn’t get charged as the lock ended up being ok .Great service and would definitely use again.

When You Can’t Open Your Safe

A safe can become inaccessible for several different reasons. Before attempting to open it, we first establish what type of safe and locking system we are dealing with and what has happened.

Lost Safe Key

The key has been lost, misplaced or is no longer available.

Forgotten Combination

The combination is no longer known or access details have been lost.

Electronic Keypad Not Responding

The keypad or electronic locking system is no longer allowing normal access.

Battery or Power Issue

Some electronic safes can become inaccessible when the normal power or battery arrangement fails.

Lock or Mechanism Failure

The correct key or code may be available, but the safe still refuses to open.

Safe Door Jammed

The locking system may operate but the door itself will not release normally.

Old or Inherited Safe

A property or business may contain a safe without a working key or known combination.

Don’t Force the Safe Open

Trying random combinations, forcing the handle or using tools against the lock can turn an access problem into unnecessary damage.

The right opening method depends on the safe, locking system and reason it will not open.

We assess those first and then determine the appropriate way to gain access.

The objective is simple: regain access with as little unnecessary damage as possible. ☎︎  Call 01 265 6511

Can a Safe Be Opened Without Damage?

In many situations, opening can be attempted without destructive work.

However, it is not possible to promise that every safe can always be opened without damage before it has been properly assessed.

Different safes use different mechanical and electronic locking systems, and the appropriate method depends on the safe itself and the nature of the access problem.

Where possible, DIALOCK will use a non-destructive opening method. If non-destructive opening is not possible, the alternative approach should be explained before work proceeds.

Send Us Details of the Safe First

Safe opening is different from an ordinary door lockout. The more information we have before attendance, the better we can understand what equipment and approach may be required.

WhatsApp Send Photos on WhatsApp
01

A Photo of the Safe

A clear photograph of the front of the safe.

02

Manufacturer or Brand

Any visible manufacturer name, badge or identification.

03

Model Information

A model number or other label if it is accessible.

04

Lock Type

Tell us whether the safe uses a key, mechanical combination, electronic keypad or another access method.

05

What Happened

For example: key lost, code forgotten, keypad stopped responding, handle will not move or the safe simply stopped opening.

06

Close-Up Photo of the Lock or Keypad

This can provide useful information before attendance.

We Need to Confirm You Are Authorised to Open the Safe

Before opening a safe, we need to confirm your identity and that you are authorised to request access.

Depending on the circumstances, you may therefore be asked for:

Photo identification and, where appropriate, evidence that you are authorised to request access to the safe or premises.

How Safe Opening Works

01

Tell Us About the Safe

Describe the problem and, where possible, send photographs and identification details from the safe.

02

We Assess the Information

We establish what type of safe and locking system is involved and what may be preventing normal access.

03

Identity & Authorisation Check

Before opening, we confirm that you are entitled to request access.

04

Opening Method Explained

We determine an appropriate opening approach, prioritising non-destructive methods where possible.

05

Safe Opened

The locksmith carries out the agreed opening procedure to regain access to the safe.

Safe Opening Only

DIALOCK specialises in gaining access to locked safes.

Our safe service is limited to opening. We do not provide safe sales, installation or ongoing repair and servicing.

If your requirement is simply to regain access to a safe that will not open, that is the service we provide.

Frequently Asked Questions About Safe Opening

  • Can a locksmith open a safe?

Yes. Safe opening is a specialist locksmith service. The appropriate opening method depends on the safe, its locking system and the reason access has been lost.

  • Can you open my safe if I have lost the key?

Potentially, yes. Send us photographs and any manufacturer or model information available so we can assess the safe before attendance.

  • Can you open a safe if I have forgotten the combination?

Yes, depending on the safe and locking system. We first need details of the safe to determine the appropriate approach.

  • Can you open an electronic safe that has stopped responding?

We can assess electronic safes that cannot be accessed normally. The cause may vary, so photographs and details of what the keypad is doing are useful before attendance.

  • Will opening the safe damage it?

Not necessarily. Where possible, we use a non-destructive opening approach. Some situations may require an alternative method; if so, this should be discussed before the opening proceeds.

  • What information should I send before you come?

Ideally send photographs of the safe, manufacturer or model details if visible, the type of lock or keypad and a short explanation of what has happened.

  • Do I need to prove the safe belongs to me?

We need to establish your identity and that you are entitled to request the opening. Photo identification and, where relevant, evidence of authorisation may therefore be required.

  • Do you repair safes after opening them?

No. DIALOCK currently provides safe opening only. We do not provide safe repair or servicing.

  • Do you install or sell safes?

No. Our service on this page is specifically safe opening / gain entry.

  • Do you provide safe opening for businesses?

Yes, where the person requesting the opening is properly authorised to do so. See also Commercial Locksmith Dublin.

  • Are you available outside normal working hours?

DIALOCK operates a 24/7 locksmith service across Dublin.
